Mahonia Crossing is a new 15-acre, 313-unit housing community in the South Gateway neighborhood of Salem. As a Community for All Ages, Mahonia was intentionally designed to foster intergenerational connection within a park-like setting so people of all ages can live, work, and play together.

The name Mahonia, derived from the scientific name for Oregon Grape—the State Flower of Oregon—provides a direct nod to the legacy of landowner John Miller and his family of local companies. Native to the Pacific Northwest, Mahonia aquifolium was used by indigenous peoples and later by European colonists for a wide variety of healing purposes.
This is the place for a new kind of future; a future of intergenerational connectedness, of inclusive understanding and learning, of community and support.
